♟️ About the Organizer

László Seres is a Hungarian chess organizer, FIDE Arbiter, tournament director, and federation official based in Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary. FIDE awarded him the FIDE Arbiter title in 2009. He holds a valid Category C arbiter licence. In 2025, FIDE also awarded him the Associate Organizer title, valid through 2027.

Seres serves as secretary-general of the Bács-Kiskun County Chess Federation. In this role, he coordinates competitions, publishes tournament information, supports affiliated clubs, and handles technical administration. He also contributes to the Hungarian Chess Federation’s Senior Committee.

🏆 Tournaments and Chess Events

László Seres has extensive experience with classical, rapid, blitz, youth, school, senior, and team competitions. He works as an organizer, chief arbiter, tournament administrator, and technical coordinator at events across Hungary.

In 2025, FIDE listed him as the chief organizer of the Hungarian Chess Players World Meeting in Lakitelek. The event brought together players for a FIDE-rated classical tournament and related chess activities. Moreover, he regularly supports the wider festival program connected with this traditional meeting of Hungarian chess players.

Seres also serves as chief arbiter at established competitions. Recent examples include the Hagymatikum-Duocor Cup, Mizse Cup, regional memorial tournaments, county championships, and community chess events. In addition, he manages results, tournament documentation, pairing information, and rating submissions.

🌱 Arbiter Education and Chess Development

Education forms an important part of László Seres’s chess work. He helps organize arbiter courses and professional-development programs in Lakitelek. These courses cover the Laws of Chess, Swiss-system pairings, team competitions, rating calculations, chess clocks, and tournament-management software.

Furthermore, Seres supports school and junior chess throughout Bács-Kiskun County. He prepares regulations and coordinates county stages of the Hungarian School Chess Olympiad. He also helps clubs and local organizers deliver properly managed competitions.

His long-term work connects grassroots chess with Hungary’s official tournament structure. As a result, young players, amateur competitors, club teams, senior players, and aspiring arbiters gain access to regular events and technical support.
