Hans Olav Lahlum has organized international chess tournaments for more than a quarter of a century. Lahlum has also served as chief arbiter at many editions of the Norwegian Chess Championship. His record includes the championships of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Beyond tournament halls, he has contributed to Norwegian chess administration and chess media. Earlier in his career, he held several positions connected with the Norwegian Chess Federation and served as editor of Norsk Sjakkblad.
