🏆 Chess Tournament Activities

The DIGISIGNS International FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2027 is scheduled for January 17, 2027, at Nexus Koramangala Mall in Bengaluru. The competition is registered with FIDE as an international Rapid-rated event and carries FIDE Event ID 496728. It is also registered through the Indian chess structure with AICF, Karnataka State Chess Association, and Bengaluru Urban District Chess Association event codes. The tournament consists of nine Swiss rounds at 15 minutes plus five seconds increment per move. It is organized as one Open competition rather than separate playing sections. However, the prize structure includes overall prizes, unrated prizes, three rating categories, female and veteran awards, prizes for physically challenged players, and multiple junior age-group awards. The published cash prize fund is ₹300,000. Main prizes extend through 30th place, while additional awards support unrated and lower-rated competitors. Junior categories from U7 through U15 receive separate trophies and medals for boys and girls. Gururaj Kulkarni serves as Tournament Director and Coordinator. The technical team is led by IA Shripad K V as Chief Arbiter, with IA Murugasundaram serving as Deputy Chief Arbiter.

The 2027 tournament is designed to accommodate a broad player field rather than focusing only on elite competitors. Alongside the overall standings, DIGISIGNS provides substantial prize structures for players rated 1400–1500, 1501–1600, and 1601–1700. Unrated players also have their own ten-place prize classification. Young players form another important part of the event. Separate trophy and medal awards are published for U7, U9, U11, U13, and U15 boys and girls. In addition, the event recognizes female players aged 16 and above, veterans aged 60 and above, and physically challenged participants. The competition is conducted under current FIDE rules and is submitted for FIDE Rapid rating. AICF registration is compulsory for Indian players, while Karnataka players must also hold current state association registration.
