About Corsican Chess League

Ligue Corse des Échecs is the regional chess federation for Corsica, based in Bastia, Corsica, France. Ligue Corse des Échecs coordinates clubs, leagues, and official competition across the island. Moreover, it acts as a central tournament organizer and supports consistent governance and fair play.

In addition, the league runs the Corsican Circuit and delivers regular FIDE-rated tournament opportunities in classical chess, rapid chess, and blitz chess. It organizes the International Open of Quenza as a highlight open chess tournament in the Alta Rocca mountains. Furthermore, the Quenza event attracts international participation and anchors the circuit’s “sea to mountain” festival sequence.

At the same time, the league supports development chess through club coordination and structured pathways for youth events. Therefore, players can move from local club activity to higher-level island competitions. As a result, Ligue Corse des Échecs remains the key organizing body for competitive chess on Corsica.
