♟️ About Club Deportivo OneChess

Club Deportivo OneChess is an active chess club based in Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain. In competitions and sponsored events, the club also appears under the name Lanzaloe OneChess. It participates in the organized chess structure of Lanzarote and the Federación Canaria de Ajedrez, combining team competition, tournament organization, youth development, and community chess activity. The club fields players of different ages and strengths in island and regional competitions. Moreover, its competitive structure includes senior teams, youth teams, and developing players. OneChess also works with the Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife, where it operates a chess school focused especially on children and young players. Its members regularly participate in individual championships, team leagues, rapid and blitz competitions across the Canary Islands. José Carmelo Pérez Cejudo is the current President of Club OneChess and one of the principal figures in Lanzarote chess. The club has enjoyed a particularly successful 2026 season. Lanzaloe OneChess won the Lanzarote First Division Team League, finished eighth in the Campeonato de Canarias por Equipos, and produced several individual island champions. Its next major project is the Lanzaloe-OneChess tournament weekend in Arrecife from October 23–25, 2026, featuring FIDE-rated blitz and rapid competitions.

♜ Team Chess and Competitive Activity

Team chess is one of the strongest parts of Club Deportivo OneChess’s program. The club competes under the Lanzaloe OneChess name in Lanzarote’s official team competitions and also fields additional teams for developing players. In the 2026 Liga por Equipos de Lanzarote, Lanzaloe OneChess won the Primera División. The team finished ahead of El Tablero de Guanapay, CD CIAL, and CDA Tinajoy. Across its six matches, OneChess recorded five victories and one draw, including a 4–1 victory over its closest rival, El Tablero de Guanapay, in the final round. Winning the island league qualified OneChess for the 2026 Campeonato de Canarias por Equipos, held in La Palma from June 11–14. The club finished eighth among the leading teams from across the Canary Islands, with three wins, one draw, and two defeats. The club also entered Lanzaloe OneChess Jóvenes and Lanzaloe OneChess Adultos in Lanzarote’s second division. Therefore, its league structure provides competitive opportunities not only for the first team but also for younger and developing members.

🎓 Youth Chess and the Sociedad Democracia Chess School

Youth development gained additional importance in 2026 with the launch of the Escuela de Ajedrez de la Sociedad Democracia, which operates under the direction of Club OneChess. The project was officially presented in Arrecife in January 2026. It focuses on providing children and young players with continuous chess education in a welcoming environment. In addition to chess technique, the program emphasizes concentration, decision-making, strategic thinking, respect, and personal development. The school complements the club’s competitive activities. Young OneChess players can move from regular instruction into island championships, team competitions, and rated tournaments. This structure has already produced a sizeable group of junior competitors representing the club under the Lanzaloe OneChess name. OneChess players also travel to strong tournaments outside Lanzarote. In April 2026, a club delegation competed in the XVIII Open Internacional Memorial Pedro Lezcano Montalvo in Gran Canaria, which attracted around 150 players. Such participation provides the club’s developing players with experience against stronger opposition from other islands and countries.

🏆 Individual and Island Championship Success

OneChess players achieved several major results during the 2026 Lanzarote championship season. At the Campeonato Insular Absoluto, Juvenil y Veterano de Lanzarote 2026, three Lanzaloe OneChess players won the principal categories. Alexander Bangiev became Absolute Champion, Katharina Bangiev won the youth title, and Marcelino Ramos became veteran champion. The club also dominated the top categories of the Campeonato Blitz de Lanzarote 2026. Alexander Bangiev won the absolute title, while Antonio López Pereyra finished second. Katharina Bangiev won the women’s category. In July 2026, four OneChess players represented Lanzarote at the Campeonato de Canarias Absoluto y Femenino. Pedro Tomás Pérez produced the best Lanzarote result, finishing ninth overall. Antonio López Pereyra, Katharina Bangiev, and Marcelino Ramos also represented the club and the island.

⚡ Lanzaloe-OneChess Tournament Series

Tournament organization has become another important part of the club’s activity. In October 2025, OneChess organized the inaugural Activo Lanzaloe-OneChess at the Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife. The tournament attracted 91 players from five Canary Islands and used a nine-round Swiss format at 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move. International Master José García Padrón won the event. The tournament also included awards for women, juniors, veterans, rating categories, and younger age groups. The series returns in 2026 with an expanded program. The I Blitz Lanzaloe-OneChess 2026 is scheduled for October 23, followed by the II Torneo Activo Lanzaloe-OneChess 2026 on October 24–25. The rapid tournament forms part of the Campeonato de Canarias Circuito Activo. Players will contest nine Swiss rounds at 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move, with results submitted for FIDE Rapid rating. The venue is the Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife. Antonio Martín Fernández serves as Tournament Director, while IA Pablo A. Arranz Martín is Chief Arbiter.

🤝 Chess Development in Lanzarote

Club Deportivo OneChess also contributes to the wider chess structure of Lanzarote. In 2026, it collaborated with the Delegación Insular de Ajedrez de Lanzarote and the Federación Canaria de Ajedrez on the island team league and other official competitions. The club additionally supported the Campeonato de Canarias Juvenil y Veterano 2026 when Lanzarote hosted the event. Its cooperation with the Sociedad Democracia, Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ayuntamiento de Arrecife, and regional chess authorities helps expand the number of competitive and educational opportunities available on the island. Through team chess, youth training, tournament organization, and regional competition, OneChess has developed into one of the most active current chess organizations in Lanzarote.
