♟️ About Club d’Échecs de l’Agglomération Chambérienne

Club d’Échecs de l’Agglomération Chambérienne, also known as CEAC, is an established chess club based in Chambéry, in the Savoie department of France. The organization promotes chess among children, teenagers, adults, senior players, beginners, and experienced tournament competitors. Its activities combine regular club play, structured instruction, official team competition, and tournament organization.

The club’s objective is to make chess accessible to players of all ages and playing levels. Members can attend regular sessions for casual games, training, analysis, and competitive preparation. Visitors and new players can also discover over-the-board chess in a welcoming local environment.

Since June 2025, the club has operated from premises at 6 Avenue des Ducs de Savoie in central Chambéry. This location provides a permanent base for training sessions, club meetings, internal competitions, and other chess activities.

🎓 Chess School and Club Activities

The club operates a chess school that supports young beginners and improving junior players. Training helps students learn the rules, tactical patterns, calculation, strategic principles, and practical tournament skills. Young members can then apply their knowledge in local, regional, and national competitions.

Adult players can also access lessons and regular practice sessions. The program includes opportunities for beginners who want structured instruction and established players who want to prepare for rated competition. In addition, the club organizes free-play sessions where members can meet opponents and enjoy social chess.

Club d’Échecs de l’Agglomération Chambérienne participates in competitions administered by the Fédération Française des Échecs. Its members represent the club in individual events and team championships. Therefore, players can combine weekly club activity with official competition throughout the season.

The organization also maintains an online club on Chess.com. This platform gives members another way to communicate, play games, and represent the Chambéry chess community online.

🏆 Tournaments and Competitive Chess

Tournament organization is a major part of the club’s work. CEAC runs classical, rapid, and blitz competitions during the season. These events give local players regular access to officially rated chess while also attracting competitors from other clubs in Savoie and the wider Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The club has organized the longstanding Festival International d’Échecs de Chambéry, which reached its 31st edition in 2025. The festival has traditionally offered several rating-based sections and a full week of classical competition for players from France and abroad.

In 2026, the club introduced the 1er Triathlon des Échecs de Chambéry. The event combines slow, rapid, and blitz chess in one four-day program at the Stadium de Chambéry. Participants may enter an individual tournament or complete the entire triathlon. All three competitions count for the relevant FIDE rating category.

The club also organizes shorter rapid and blitz events during the season. Overall, Club d’Échecs de l’Agglomération Chambérienne connects chess education, regular club play, team participation, and tournament organization within one active community structure.
