♟️ Club Identity
Cercle d’Échecs de Bischwiller is a long-running chess club and organizer in Bischwiller, France. The club was founded on November 20, 1981 by Roland Reeb and has grown into one of the strongest chess structures in the Grand Est region. Today, it combines a large competitive base with daily club life, regular training, and a stable home venue at the M.A.C. in Bischwiller. Its current federation record lists 211 A licenses, plus official participation in Nationale 2, Top Jeunes, and Nationale 1 Féminine. The same record also shows the federal labels Club Formateur and Label Féminin. For players, that gives the club a very clear profile. It is a serious organizer with deep roots, a strong team tradition, and a real development structure for both adults and younger players.
🏆 Competition Record
Bischwiller has built one of the most impressive competitive records in French club chess. The club won the French Team Championship in 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2021. It also won the French Women’s Team Championship in 2015 and the Coupe de la Parité in 2024. Beyond those national titles, the club continues to organize its own events in Bischwiller. In February 2025, it staged a weekend festival with an international blitz event, a U12 tournament, and a large rapid tournament. In late 2024, it also organized the departmental phase of the Coupe Jean-Claude Loubatière, while Bischwiller itself hosted a phase of the Top Jeunes. This mix matters for visiting players and local members alike. The club is not only known for elite results. It also runs practical, recurring events at home and remains active across national, regional, and club-level competition.
🌱 Youth and School Chess
Youth work is one of the strongest parts of the Bischwiller model. The club runs school and youth chess through several institutions, including École de Weitbruch, Collège Les Missions Africaines, and École ABCM Haguenau. Its internal schedule also includes regular club sessions during the week and on Saturdays. That structure supports a real pathway from school chess to national competition. In 2022, Bischwiller qualified 27 young players for the French Youth Championship. More recently, its youth section continued to compete at a high level, with teams in Top Jeunes and Nationale I Jeunes, plus individual results at regional youth championships in 2025 and 2026. The club’s strength therefore goes beyond first-team prestige. It develops players early, keeps them in structured competition, and gives young members access to both school-based and club-based chess throughout the season.
