🎓 Training and Youth Chess

♜ National Team Chess

Il Dragone has reached the highest level of Italian club chess. Its leading team competed in the 2026 Campionato Italiano a Squadre – Serie Master, facing the strongest clubs in Italy during the national finals in Boario Terme. The squad included GM Grzegorz Nasuta, IM Guido Caprio, Marco Parpinel, FM Olivier Tassi, FM Massimiliano Lucaroni, and Adriano Lelli. The team finished 20th after the play-outs and will compete in Serie A1 following its relegation from Master. The club also maintains additional teams, allowing members of different playing strengths to participate in official Italian team competition.

⚡ Tournaments and Club Events

Il Dragone runs a varied tournament calendar throughout the year. In June 2026, the association organized the 1st FIDE Rapid Tournament of Latina at the Casa del Combattente. The event reached its maximum capacity and attracted 29 players, demonstrating strong demand for rated rapid chess in the city. The club also organizes blitz events, its internal club championship, friendly competitions, thematic training days, and the long-running Trofeo di Fogliano. These activities give members opportunities to combine regular training with frequent competitive play.

🏆 Memorial Romano Lucaroni

One of Il Dragone’s principal current classical events is the International Chess Tournament – Memorial Romano Lucaroni. The 2nd edition takes place on September 12–13, 2026 at the Circolo Cittadino in central Latina. The tournament consists of five FIDE-rated classical rounds and is divided into Open A and Open B, creating appropriate sections for stronger and developing competitors. The event is organized directly by A.S.D. Circolo degli Scacchi Il Dragone.
