Innovators Chess Academy is a chess academy and tournament organizer based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It works from HSR Layout and combines coaching with a large open-event calendar. The academy is closely linked with FIDE Instructor Sushruta Reddy, who teaches at several Bengaluru schools and remains the main public face of the project. Innovators Chess Academy has been active in the city for many years and has built a clear identity around serious tournament play, accessible coaching, and structured training for young players. For local families, club players, and improving juniors, it offers more than casual classes. It provides a steady route into rated chess and regular competition.

🏆 Tournament Activity

Tournament organization is one of the academy’s strongest roles. Innovators Chess Academy organized the Akshayakalpa Karnataka State Chess Championship in 2018 and later built a strong stream of rated events in Bengaluru. In 2022, it ran Sushruta Reddy’s 1st Rating Open, a five-day classical tournament with 247 players and a ₹6 lakh prize fund. In 2024, it staged the 5th ICA Rapid Rating Open, which drew 441 players. Its 2026 calendar then expanded further through Festival Caissa, a five-event rapid-and-blitz series with a combined ₹24.35 lakh prize pool and a Grand Prix final. The academy also organized individual events such as the Navaratna Blitz and Sceptre Rapid, each carrying ₹5 lakh in prize money. This gives the organizer a clear profile: frequent events, good scale, and formats for both serious and ambitious club players.

Coaching remains central to the academy’s day-to-day work. Innovators Chess Academy runs online and offline batches and uses a flexible weekly structure that also expands during school breaks. Its official training base in HSR Layout supports in-person sessions, while online options help students who cannot attend physically. The academy’s coaching work also extends into schools, including The International School Bangalore, National Public School HSR, National Public School Koramangala, Sri Aurobindo Memorial School, and Silicon City Academy of Secondary Education. In addition, the academy has used multiple trainers, including Sushruta Reddy and Shruthi Krishnan, which gives students access to both foundation work and stronger tournament-oriented guidance. For younger players, this matters. The academy does not only host tournaments. It also helps students move from learning the game to entering rated competition with regular structure and coaching support.
