Latvian University Sports Federation

Latvian University Sports Federation (LUSF) is Latvia’s national chess federation-adjacent sports body for university competition, based in Riga, Latvia. Over the years, it has coordinated official student sport across disciplines under unified regulations and eligibility rules. As a result, it also acts as a dependable tournament organizer for major university championships hosted in the country.

In addition, LUSF is the official organizer of the XLI SELL Student Games in Riga on May 22–24, 2026, including the chess program. The chess competition is delivered as a structured student chess festival with formal event administration and published regulations. Moreover, the SELL Games tradition links student sport communities across Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, which strengthens participation and international visibility.
