The Federación Colombiana de Ajedrez (FECODAZ) functions as the official chess federation of Colombia and governs all chess-related activities nationwide. As a recognized member of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), FECODAZ actively promotes the development of chess across all regions of Colombia. The federation organizes national championships, age-group events, and official team selections for international competitions. It also supports youth programs, coaching certifications, and scholastic initiatives to foster talent and make chess a key part of Colombia’s cultural and educational landscape.

FECODAZ operates its administrative and coordination tasks from its main office in Bogotá. It works closely with departmental leagues and chess clubs to implement policies and strengthen the chess community at every level. The federation ensures transparency, sportsmanship, and inclusivity in all its events, while providing pathways for players to grow competitively, from beginners to titled masters.
