ASD Scacchi Valle dell’Aniene is an established chess association based in Tivoli, Lazio, Italy. The organization began its activities in Subiaco in 2006, initially focusing on chess education within local schools. The association was formally established in 2010 and affiliated with the Italian Chess Federation and the national amateur sports system. Since then, it has expanded its activities across Tivoli, Castel Madama, and the wider Aniene Valley. Daniele Pirozzini serves as President and Technical Director. He works with a structured committee responsible for administration, tournaments, training, digital activities, communications, safeguarding, and the management of the club’s playing venues. The association welcomes children, adults, beginners, and experienced tournament players. Its program combines regular courses, casual club play, team competition, cultural projects, masterclasses, and FIDE-rated tournaments. The main club venue in Tivoli includes separate rooms for lessons and practical play. The additional Castel Madama venue supports local players who want to attend training and prepare for official competitions closer to home.

ASD Scacchi Valle dell’Aniene organizes a growing program of national and international chess tournaments. Since 2022, the club has placed particular emphasis on professionally managed FIDE-rated classical events. Its principal recurring competition is the Torneo Città di Tivoli. In 2016, the association achieved an important milestone when one of its teams qualified for the national Serie C championship.

Chess education remains central to the association’s work. The club provides courses for children, adult beginners, pre-competitive players, and experienced tournament competitors. Training includes tactical exercises, strategic planning, game analysis, practical play, and tournament preparation. Advanced players can also attend specialist courses and masterclasses led by experienced coaches and titled players. The organization has maintained a strong relationship with schools across the Aniene Valley. Its instructors have delivered long-term school chess programs for pupils and have also supported teacher training and wider educational projects. School teams connected with the association qualified for the Italian national school finals for eleven consecutive years. This achievement reflects the club’s consistent investment in junior instruction and structured competition. The association also participates in Italy’s PCTO school-to-work education system. These projects allow students to gain practical experience in event organization, communication, digital activities, and other work connected with a modern sports association. Online chess supports the club’s in-person work. The association operates digital communities and channels on Lichess, Discord, YouTube, and Twitch. These platforms provide additional opportunities for lessons, tournaments, analysis, and chess promotion. Through regular training, school partnerships, team competition, and international tournaments, ASD Scacchi Valle dell’Aniene offers a clear development route.
