The ACT Chess Association (ACTCA) is the governing chess body for the Australian Capital Territory. It is based in Canberra, Australia. The association supports local clubs, players, and organized competition across the region.
ACTCA runs a wide range of over-the-board tournaments, including classical, rapid, and blitz events. Most notably, it organizes the O2C Doeberl Cup in Canberra, one of Australia’s longest-running annual chess tournaments. In addition, ACTCA coordinates ACT championship events and other rated competitions through the year.
Furthermore, ACTCA works closely with community and junior chess groups to grow participation. As a result, players have clear pathways from local events to stronger regional competition. At the same time, the association emphasizes fair play and consistent tournament standards.
