Eichsfelder Sportclub e.V.

Eichsfelder Sportclub e.V. is a multi-sport club based in Leinefelde-Worbis in the Eichsfeld region of Germany. Under one umbrella it brings together several disciplines, including basketball, swimming, triathlon and children’s sports. The club positions itself as a center for performance sport and youth development, with structured training and long-term support for young athletes.

Within this structure, the chess department is relatively young but very active. Founded in 2022, it focuses mainly on children and youth. The section runs school chess groups at several local schools and offers regular training sessions at the youth center in Leinefelde, as well as online training with experienced coaches. As a result, young players quickly gain both practice and competitive experience in regional leagues and open tournaments.

Eichsfelder Sportclub e.V. is the organizer of the TOBOL Chess Open 2026 in Leinefelde-Worbis. This classical open uses a long time control over five rounds and offers both an A-Open, rated for FIDE Elo and DWZ, and a B-Open, rated for DWZ only. With clear regulations, a detailed schedule and a broad prize structure, the club aims to provide ambitious club players from the wider region with a professional yet friendly tournament experience.
