II. Erno Dede Memorial
Hajdúszoboszló hosts the II. Ernő Dede Memorial from Thursday, February 5 to Sunday, February 8, 2026 in Hajdúszoboszló, Hungary. The Hajdúszoboszló Chess School organizes this memorial to honor FM Ernő Dede Jr. and to provide high-quality over-the-board competition with special attention to young players. The tournament runs as a multi-group Swiss festival in the city’s Municipal Sports Center and offers both strong classical sections and a youth-focused group with a shorter classical time control.
The organizers split the field into three groups by Elo and age and award a deep prize list across all groups, including main prizes, youth and women category prizes, and several local and senior awards. Group A games also appear online with a broadcast delay, and the weekend includes optional side activities such as wine tasting and a blitz event. The organizers require advance registration by online form and enforce a 30-minute default time for every round.
