About Czech Chess Federation
The Czech Chess Federation (Šachový svaz České republiky), established in 1905, serves as the official governing body for chess in the Czech Republic. Headquartered at Zátopkova 100/2, Prague 6, the federation oversees national chess activities, develops local talent, and represents the Czech Republic in international competitions. Under the leadership of President Martin Petr, the federation actively promotes chess through various programs and events.
The Czech Chess Federation organizes several key tournaments annually. The Czech Chess Championship, held since 1993, determines the national champion and is a cornerstone of the country's chess calendar. The federation also hosts the Czech Women's Chess Championship, the Czech Junior and Cadet Championships, and the Czech Team Chess Championship, fostering the development of chess at all levels. Additionally, the federation supports international tournaments, such as the Prague International Chess Festival, attracting players from around the world and enhancing the Czech Republic's presence in the global chess community.
