The 7th Check N Mate All India Open FIDE Rated Rapid & Blitz Chess Tournament 2026 will take place on November 21–22, 2026, at ORCHIDS The International School in Cheemasandra, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Organized by Check N Mate, the weekend combines two separate competitions and offers a combined published prize fund of ₹440,000, approximately $4,570.

The main Rapid tournament runs across both days and features 9 Swiss rounds at 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move, with ₹400,000 in prizes. It is FIDE-rated under FIDE Event ID 503290. The separate Blitz tournament is scheduled for November 22 and consists of 9 rounds at 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment, with another ₹40,000 in prizes.

Registration remains open until November 15, 2026, while the published early-bird period ends on October 31. Players can enter the Rapid alone, the Blitz alone or use a combined Rapid + Blitz entry. Because the two competitions have separate Chess-Results files, prize structures and technical documentation, participants entering both should verify their registration and starting-list details for each event separately.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

The tournament weekend contains two independent Swiss competitions.

Competition Rounds Time Control
Rapid 9 15 minutes + 5 seconds per move
Blitz 9 5 minutes + 3 seconds per move

The Rapid is submitted for international rating and currently carries FIDE Event ID 503290. Pairings are managed with Swiss-Manager.

The Blitz has its own Chess-Results file, prize structure and technical documentation. Its public Chess-Results listing currently does not display a separate FIDE event ID or rating-calculation status, so players should use the organizer’s latest technical information for the final rating status.

🏆 Prize Fund

The combined published prize fund is ₹440,000, approximately $4,570 at the current exchange rate.

Competition Prize Fund
Rapid ₹400,000
Blitz ₹40,000
Combined Total ₹440,000

The organizer has published separate detailed prize-structure files for Rapid and Blitz through the two Chess-Results pages. These documents contain the event’s main-place and category allocations.

Because the detailed prize spreadsheets are maintained separately from the main public listing, players competing for rating, age or other category awards should check the current prize file for their competition before the event.

👥 Sections / Groups

The weekend combines two separate Open competitions at the same venue.

Competition Dates Format
7th Check N Mate All India Open FIDE Rated Rapid Chess Tournament November 21–22 9-round Rapid, 15+5
7th Check N Mate All India Open Blitz Chess Tournament November 22 9-round Blitz, 5+3

The Rapid and Blitz have independent pairings, standings and prize structures. Therefore, a player entering both formats competes in two distinct tournaments rather than one combined classification.

📅 Schedule

Date Competition
November 21, 2026 Rapid tournament – Day 1
November 22, 2026 Rapid tournament – concluding rounds and prizes
November 22, 2026 Separate Blitz tournament

The organizer provides a dedicated playing schedule / time-table through Chess-Results together with technical-meeting documents. Players should check the live tournament files shortly before travelling, since those documents are the appropriate source for the final round-by-round reporting times.

Players entering both competitions should use the combined Rapid + Blitz option where applicable.

Since registration is handled externally by the organizer, the MyChess.Events internal REGISTER button should be removed. The official registration URL should remain in this Registration section.

📍 Venue

ORCHIDS The International School – Patel Layout, Cheemasandra Road, Virgonagar, Aavalahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560049, India.

The venue is in eastern Bengaluru, in the Cheemasandra / Aavalahalli area near the Old Madras Road and Budigere Cross corridors. Players staying in central Bengaluru should allow a substantial traffic buffer, particularly during weekday and weekend peak periods.

🏨 Accommodation

The tournament does not currently publish an official accommodation package. However, several properties are available in the Budigere Cross / Old Madras Road area, which is generally more convenient for the venue than staying in central Bengaluru.

Current indicative online rates are only a planning guide and can change significantly by November.

Accommodation Area / Notes Approx. Current Rate
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bengaluru OMR Huskur / Kattamanallur, on the Old Madras Road side of Bengaluru about $45–55 per night
LAHR Hotels Budigere Cross / Bommenahalli area about $30 per night
Sree Raaga Resorts Budigere Bypass Road; useful especially for travelers approaching from the airport side about $35–45 per night

Players should compare the actual road journey to ORCHIDS The International School before booking, because Bengaluru traffic can make a geographically short distance considerably slower at peak times.

🚆 How to Get There

The tournament venue is in Cheemasandra in eastern Bengaluru, rather than in the city center. Travel plans should therefore be based on the Cheemasandra / Aavalahalli / Old Madras Road area.

From Kempegowda International Airport (BLR)

Kempegowda International Airport is the main airport for Bengaluru. Depending on the route and the exact starting point used, the Cheemasandra area is roughly 25–35 km from the airport.

A prepaid taxi, app-based cab such as Uber/Ola, or a pre-arranged transfer is the simplest option, especially when travelling with luggage or chess equipment. The journey normally uses the airport-road network toward the Budigere / Old Madras Road side of Bengaluru.

Traffic conditions vary significantly, so passengers should not estimate the journey purely from distance. Allow a generous buffer on tournament mornings.

By Train

For players arriving by rail, several stations may be more practical than travelling all the way through central Bengaluru.

Whitefield Railway Station is one of the closer suburban rail options for the eastern side of the city. From Whitefield, continue by taxi, auto-rickshaw or rideshare toward Cheemasandra.

Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru (SMVT) is a major long-distance railway terminal and is another useful arrival point. It is considerably better positioned for eastern Bengaluru than some routes arriving on the western side of the city.

Players arriving at KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station / Majestic can continue east by Metro, BMTC bus or taxi, but they should allow additional travel time across the city.

By Metro

The Bengaluru Metro does not currently take passengers directly to the tournament venue.

Practical Purple Line stations for the final connection include Whitefield (Kadugodi) and KR Pura. From either station, continue by taxi, Ola/Uber or auto-rickshaw toward Cheemasandra.

Whitefield is generally convenient for travelers who also choose accommodation on the eastern side of Bengaluru.

By BMTC Bus

BMTC services operate through the Cheemasandra area. Routes including 316-F and V-317A serve Cheemasandra Gate and connect the area with larger Bengaluru transport hubs.

After reaching Cheemasandra Gate, use a short auto-rickshaw or rideshare trip to ORCHIDS The International School on Cheemasandra Road.

Bus frequencies and stopping patterns can change, so check the current BMTC schedule on the day of travel rather than relying on an older timetable.

By Car or Taxi

Drivers should navigate directly to:

ORCHIDS The International School – Patel Layout, Cheemasandra Road, Virgonagar, Aavalahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560049, India.

The main approach is through the Old Madras Road / NH75 and Budigere Cross corridor, followed by local roads toward Cheemasandra.

Bengaluru traffic can change rapidly by time of day. Consequently, players should aim to arrive well before reporting time, particularly on the first morning.

ℹ️ Other Information

The tournament organizers provide an unusually extensive technical-document package through Chess-Results. In addition to the event brochure and separate Rapid and Blitz prize structures, players can access the Technical Meeting document, current FIDE Laws of Chess, Rapid and Blitz appendices, Article 12.9 disciplinary material and an arbiter manual.

Utkal Dash serves as Tournament Director, while IA Saleem Beig is listed as Chief Arbiter.

The Rapid and Blitz are technically separate competitions. Consequently, players should verify the correct Chess-Results starting list, pairings and prize document for each format they enter.

Participants should also verify their name, FIDE ID, federation, rating and registration status before travelling. Any discrepancy should be raised with the organizer before the final pairing lists are prepared.

Finally, save the registration confirmation and both relevant Chess-Results pages on your phone before the tournament. The live Chess-Results files are likely to be the most useful source for last-minute participant, pairing and timetable updates.
