The Campeonato Brasileiro de Xadrez Rápido & Blitz 2026 brings Brazil’s national rapid and blitz championships to Fortaleza, Ceará, on October 31 and November 1, 2026. The Confederação Brasileira de Xadrez (CBX) promotes the event, while CBX and the Federação Cearense de Xadrez (FCX) jointly organize the championships at Hotel Beira Mar.

Although both competitions form one integrated event, the Rapid and Blitz championships remain independent for titles, standings, prizes, technical registration, and ratings. The Rapid Championship features seven Swiss rounds at 10 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move. Meanwhile, the Blitz Championship consists of 11 Swiss rounds at 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move. In addition, women compete in the same overall fields and have separate cumulative women’s prize classifications.

👥 Sections / Groups

The event consists of two independent national championships: the Campeonato Brasileiro de Xadrez Rápido 2026 and the Campeonato Brasileiro de Xadrez Blitz 2026. Each competition uses one combined overall playing field rather than separate Open and Women’s tournaments.

Women therefore play alongside all other participants. However, the organizers calculate an additional women’s classification for the top three women in each championship, and those prizes are cumulative with any overall prize.

Participation is open to players who are properly registered with CBX and meet the federation’s administrative and financial requirements. For FIDE rating purposes, the current regulations require participants to represent Brazil (BRA) with FIDE. A player registered under another national federation must complete a transfer to BRA before registration confirmation if the player intends to participate under these regulations.
