♟️ About Noisiel Échecs

Noisiel Échecs is a French chess club and international tournament organizer based in Noisiel, Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region. Founded in 2012, the association has developed into one of the larger and more competitive chess organizations in its area. The Fédération Française des Échecs registers the club under code M77047, with its leading adult team competing in Nationale 1 and its leading youth team in Nationale 2 Jeunes.

The club combines competitive team chess with structured coaching, youth development, recreational play, women’s chess, and an extensive tournament calendar. Its regular chess activities take place at the Maison de Quartier de la Ferme du Buisson, where training and club sessions are held during the week and on Saturdays. Current FFE records list 168 Licence A and 28 Licence B players, while the club’s own 2025–2026 overview describes a membership of more than 195 licensed players participating in over 20 competitions.

Tournament organization is one of Noisiel Échecs’ defining strengths. Under founder and President Narayanin “Nara” Oupindrin, the club has built the Open International de Noisiel into a major annual event capable of attracting hundreds of competitors and titled players from around the world. The organization also runs international rapid and blitz competitions, youth tournaments, summer Opens, women’s events, and other rated competitions throughout the season.

📜 History and Development

Noisiel Échecs was founded by Narayanin Oupindrin in 2012. The association was formally created on June 28, 2012, with its creation subsequently published in the Journal Officiel. Its declared purpose is to promote chess instruction and chess practice as both a sporting and social activity.

From a local club, Noisiel gradually developed into a substantial competitive organization. Its membership expanded, additional adult and junior teams were formed, and the club progressed through the French Interclubs system.

An important milestone came when the first team reached Nationale 1, placing Noisiel among the leading clubs in the French national league structure. For the 2026–2027 season, the club intends to maintain its Nationale 1 position while continuing to strengthen its youth and reserve teams.

The club’s growth has developed alongside an increasingly ambitious tournament program, with the International Open becoming one of its most recognizable projects.

🏆 Open International de Noisiel

The Open International d’Échecs de Noisiel is the club’s flagship competition.

The event has grown steadily since its early editions. By 2018, the third Open already offered opportunities for International Master and Grandmaster norms. The same norm-friendly structure continued as the tournament developed further.

The 11th Open International de Noisiel took place from April 18–23, 2026 at the Salle Polyvalente et Sportive de la Ferme du Buisson.

The festival featured three classical sections and attracted 240 players from 26 countries across four continents. The Open A included Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters, while lower sections created opportunities for a wider range of competitors.

All classical sections used a nine-round Swiss format. The main rated sections were played at 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move.

Ukrainian Grandmaster Sergey Fedorchuk won Open A with 6.5 points, ahead of GM Peng Li Min and IM Marco Materia on tiebreak.

The 2026 festival also included the 3rd Open International de Blitz de Noisiel. Across the classical and blitz competitions, the organizers announced approximately €11,000 in prizes.

🎓 Youth Chess and Development

Youth chess is central to the identity of Noisiel Échecs.

The club provides different training groups for children according to age and playing strength. For the 2026–2027 season, beginner and intermediate youth sessions are scheduled during the week and on Saturdays at the Maison de Quartier de la Ferme du Buisson.

Young members can progress from introductory instruction into rated individual tournaments, Critériums, regional events, and team chess.

The leading youth squad competes in Nationale 2 Jeunes, while additional teams participate in Nationale 4 Jeunes and several Critérium competitions.

The club also organizes the annual Trophée Jeunes de Noisiel. Its 13th edition took place on February 14–15, 2026 and consisted of several FIDE-rated sections grouped by playing strength.

The competition used a five-round format at 50 minutes plus 10 seconds per move and was designed as preparation for the Île-de-France youth championships.

♜ Team Chess

Noisiel Échecs maintains a broad competitive team structure.

The first adult team competes in Nationale 1, while Noisiel 2 competes in Nationale 3 and additional teams play in Nationale 4.

The club’s leading junior team competes in Nationale 2 Jeunes. Noisiel also participates in women’s team competition and the Coupe de France.

This structure gives members opportunities to enter team competition at several levels rather than limiting national competition to a small elite group.

For the 2026–2027 season, the club’s stated sporting objective is to maintain its first team in Nationale 1 while continuing to develop its other adult, youth, and women’s squads.

⚡ Rapid and Blitz Chess

Rapid and blitz chess have become increasingly important parts of Noisiel’s tournament calendar.

At the end of 2025, the club organized its first Rapide International de Noisiel, attracting such strong demand that participation exceeded 240 entries across its competitions. The club subsequently announced plans to expand its rapid program.

On May 14, 2026, Noisiel organized the first Rapide de l’Ascension, featuring separate rapid competitions for adults and younger players.

Open A consisted of nine rounds at 12 minutes plus 2 seconds per move, while the youth-focused Open B used seven rounds at the same time control.

The club has already scheduled the 2nd International Rapid Open for December 20, 2026, continuing the development of this format alongside its classical International Open.

☀️ Open d’Été de Noisiel

A new tournament project was added to the calendar in July 2026 with the first Open d’Été d’Échecs de Noisiel.

The event took place from July 5–10, 2026 at the Maison de Quartier de la Ferme du Buisson.

It featured two classical sections designed primarily as preparation for players planning to compete in the Paris Championship immediately afterward.

The tournaments consisted of seven rounds spread across six days, providing players with a serious classical preparation event during the summer period.

🌍 Future Tournament Development

Noisiel Échecs continues to expand its tournament program.

For the 2026–2027 season, the club plans more than ten tournaments across classical, rapid, blitz, and youth formats.

The Festival Francilien Jeunes is scheduled for September 20, 2026, with the organization aiming to attract more than 300 young players.

The 2nd International Rapid Open follows in December 2026.

The flagship classical event will then return with the 12th Open International de Noisiel from April 3–8, 2027, accompanied by the fourth edition of the international blitz competition.

🏛️ Organization and Leadership

Narayanin “Nara” Oupindrin is the founder and current President of Noisiel Échecs.

He is also the principal organizer of the club’s International Open and other major tournaments. FIDE lists Narayanin Oupindrin among its international organizers, and the French Chess Federation identifies him as both an International Organizer and FIDE Instructor.

In 2022, he received the Bronze Medal for Youth, Sports and Community Engagement in recognition of his voluntary contribution to chess development.

The current club structure also includes Vasanth Touré as Vice President, Hughes Anicette as Treasurer, and Alexis Toulas in a chess-education and website role.
