Eligibility & FIDE Identification

Players may participate with a valid Hungarian competition licence and FIDE ID. The regulations also provide an HPL option for eligible players who require the relevant Hungarian playing authorization, with a published fee of HUF 8,000 for 365 days. Players should resolve licence and FIDE-ID questions before Round 1.

Prize Conditions

The published prize table is guaranteed when the tournament reaches at least 60 participants across the two groups. Group A awards HUF 250,000 / 210,000 / 180,000 / 130,000 / 100,000 / 60,000 to the first six places, while Group B awards HUF 80,000 / 65,000 / 50,000 / 40,000 / 30,000 / 20,000.

Special awards recognize the best Debrecen player, best senior over 60, best woman, and best youth. Each special award is HUF 10,000 in Group A and HUF 5,000 in Group B, in addition to cups, medals, and certificates. Cash prizes are subject to the published Hungarian tax rules and are not split.

Memorial Purpose & Patrons

The tournament commemorates Dr. Sándor Kántor and is designed both to promote chess and to create a FIDE-rated opportunity for players with busy schedules. The published patrons are Prof. Dr. Zoltán Bács, Prof. Dr. András Jávor, and Dr. László Papp.

Photography & Tournament Changes

Payment of the entry fee constitutes acceptance of the organizer’s tournament conditions, including the published provisions on tournament photography and video. The organizer also reserves the right to amend the regulations before the event when necessary.
