♟️ About Pratyusha International Chess Academy

Pratyusha International Chess Academy (PICA) is a chess training and tournament organization based in Hyderabad, India. Woman Grandmaster Bodda Pratyusha founded the academy to support players at every stage of development. Moreover, PICA combines structured instruction with practical tournament experience.

The academy welcomes beginners, improving club players, competitive juniors, and advanced tournament participants. It provides both online and offline coaching. Therefore, students can follow a suitable program regardless of their location or current playing level.

Bodda Pratyusha leads the academy as its founder and principal chess mentor. She earned the Woman Grandmaster title in 2020 and represented India at the 2016 Chess Olympiad. Meanwhile, VSM Raviteja serves as Chairman and supports the academy’s direction and administration.

🏆 Tournaments and Competitive Activity

PICA organizes classical, rapid, blitz, and junior chess tournaments in Hyderabad. Its events range from children’s prize-money competitions to large open tournaments with national and international ratings. As a result, players can move from introductory competition toward stronger rated events.

The academy’s tournament program includes the PICA All India Open festival. The 2026 program features FIDE-rated classical, rapid, and blitz competitions. In addition, PICA organizes a separate classical tournament for players rated below 1800.

Bodda Pratyusha serves as tournament director for the academy’s major events. The organizing team also works with qualified arbiters and official rating bodies. Consequently, participants receive published schedules, tournament regulations, registration guidance, and rating submissions.

PICA also runs regular age-group and children’s prize-money tournaments. By 2026, the academy had reached the ninth edition of its children’s tournament series. These events give young players practical experience in a competitive but supportive setting.

The academy promotes tournament participation as an essential part of chess improvement. Therefore, students can apply classroom ideas during serious games. They can also review mistakes, strengthen decision-making, and build confidence under tournament conditions.

🎓 Chess Training and Player Development

PICA offers structured programs for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. Beginner lessons cover the rules, piece movement, basic checkmates, and opening principles. Meanwhile, intermediate students study tactics, planning, openings, and essential endgames.

Advanced training focuses on positional play, long-term planning, tournament psychology, and deeper endgame technique. Moreover, students can analyze grandmaster games and receive feedback on their own tournament play. The academy also provides one-to-one coaching for players who need a personal training plan.

The Chess for Kids program uses puzzles, guided games, and interactive exercises. Consequently, younger students can improve concentration, patience, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. PICA also offers corporate chess sessions that connect chess principles with strategic decision-making and leadership.

The academy operates training locations in Moosapet, KPHB, and Pragathi Nagar in Hyderabad. In addition, its online lessons allow students outside the city to join its programs. Above all, PICA links professional coaching, regular practice, and tournament exposure within one development pathway.
