The Dundee Chess Congress is an established annual chess organizer based in Dundee, Scotland. Local chess players revived the congress in 2004 after a ten-year break. The first renewed event attracted 124 players to the Queens Hotel. It also received strong reviews from participants.

In 2005, the organizers moved the congress to the Next Generation Club near Monifieth. The venue soon became popular with visiting players. However, its terms changed in 2016. Therefore, the organizing team paused the congress in 2017 while searching for a suitable new home.

The congress returned in 2018 at the University of Dundee Chaplaincy Centre. This venue also has a strong connection with the local chess community. Raymond Noble serves as Congress Director. In addition, the organizing team includes Keith Rose, James Anderson, Daniel Coleman, Raymond Flood, Jean Chalmers, Joshua Crofts, Colin Young, and David Findlay.

Dundee Chess Congress organizes a traditional five-round weekend competition. The event normally begins on Friday evening and continues throughout Saturday and Sunday. As a result, players can complete a substantial classical tournament during one weekend.

The congress offers three principal sections: Premier, Major, and Minor. This structure gives players several competitive options. Therefore, experienced competitors, club players, improving amateurs, and juniors can enter a suitable section.

Games count toward Chess Scotland standard grading. Moreover, the congress uses a consistent round schedule across all sections. The standard time control provides 90 minutes for the game, plus 15 seconds for every move from move one.

The organizer provides meaningful prizes across the three sections. These normally include first, second, and third prizes. In addition, the Major and Minor sections offer grading prizes and junior awards. Primary-school players can also compete for a dedicated prize in the Minor section.
