♟️ About Skakforeningen ØBRO

Skakforeningen ØBRO is a historic chess club based in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The organization was founded on September 29, 1936, under the earlier name Østerbro Arbejder Skakklub. Since 1971, the club has operated from its own premises on Rosenvængets Allé. Its purpose is to promote chess, strengthen the playing ability of its members, and create a welcoming social community around the game. The club welcomes juniors, adults, beginners, recreational players, and experienced tournament competitors. Christian Sylvester Christensen serves as chairperson and also contributes to the club’s adult training program.

🏆 Training, Teams and Club Activities

ØBRO provides regular instruction for both junior and adult players. Junior training takes place each Monday, while separate adult sessions support improving and experienced club members. In addition, the club holds regular playing evenings where members can join scheduled competitions, casual games, analysis, rapid chess, and blitz. ØBRO enters numerous teams in Danish national and Copenhagen regional competitions. Its teams compete from the national divisions through several levels of the Copenhagen Chess Union league structure. Therefore, members can gain team experience at a level suited to their current playing strength. The club also maintains a long-standing friendship with Limhamns Schackklubb in Sweden, with an annual match tradition dating back to 1953.
