Buddhibal Seva Sansthan is a registered non-profit organization based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Established in 2014, the organization works across sports, education, healthcare, and community welfare. It supports children, young people, athletes, students, and economically disadvantaged communities through practical development programs.

The organization promotes sport as a tool for education, discipline, confidence, and personal growth. Its activities include sporting events, educational support, health-awareness programs, blood-donation initiatives, medical camps, and community-development projects. Moreover, Buddhibal Seva Sansthan aims to create opportunities for talented young people from both urban and rural communities.

Chess holds a central position within this wider mission. Through its specialized chess unit, Chess in Lakecity, the organization uses the game to develop concentration, strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and responsible decision-making among children and junior players.

🏆 Chess in Lakecity

Chess in Lakecity manages the organization’s chess training, tournament activity, and player-development programs. The initiative began organizing chess events in Udaipur before Buddhibal Seva Sansthan formally registered in 2014. Since then, the two entities have worked together to build a broad chess program for local, regional, national, and international players.

According to the organization’s current tournament regulations, Chess in Lakecity has conducted more than 200 chess tournaments and related events. These include over 40 competitions recognized by FIDE and the All India Chess Federation. Its portfolio covers international rating tournaments, Grandmaster events, classical competitions, rapid and blitz tournaments, junior championships, and grassroots events.

The organization works under the recognized Indian chess structure and cooperates with the Rajasthan Chess Association and the All India Chess Federation. As a result, its tournaments provide players with opportunities to compete for ratings, prizes, titles, and valuable competitive experience.

🎓 Training, Schools and Player Development

Buddhibal Seva Sansthan and Chess in Lakecity promote chess among children through coaching programs, school activities, awareness camps, and community initiatives. Their programs aim to identify promising players and help them progress through structured instruction and regular competition.

The organization has also conducted training camps led by experienced titled players and coaches. In addition, it has hosted seminars for national and international arbiters. These activities strengthen both player development and tournament administration in Udaipur.

The program has attracted support and recognition from prominent representatives of Indian and international chess. During a visit to Udaipur, FIDE Management Board Deputy Chair Dana Reizniece-Ozola attended a Chess in Lakecity school event and met young players. FIDE reported that the organization had already staged more than 50 national and international tournaments and helped produce over 200 rated players at that stage of its development.

🌍 International and FIDE-Rated Events

Buddhibal Seva Sansthan organizes several established tournament series in Udaipur. These events often combine significant prize funds with accommodation and food arrangements for registered participants. The organization also welcomes players from different Indian states and, where permitted by the regulations, international competitors.

The N. L. Pandiyar Memorial Lakecity International Open is one of its principal competitions. The ninth edition takes place in Udaipur from October 25 to 29, 2026. Buddhibal Seva Sansthan serves as the official organizer, while Chess in Lakecity provides technical support. The tournament offers a total prize fund of ₹1,601,000 and includes 113 cash prizes and 122 trophies.

International Arbiter and National Instructor Vikas Sahu serves as organizing secretary. He also acts as secretary of Chess in Lakecity and coordinates tournament communication, registrations, accommodation, and organizational matters.
