♟️ About Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije

Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije is the regional chess federation responsible for coordinating organized chess across Central Serbia. Based in Belgrade, the federation works with affiliated chess clubs, players, arbiters, coaches, tournament directors, and local hosts. It manages a broad competition system that connects grassroots club chess with higher regional and national levels.

The federation also performs important administrative duties. These include club and player registration, competition calendars, team eligibility, roster administration, transfers, tournament regulations, and official announcements. Therefore, clubs throughout Central Serbia rely on the federation for both competitive organization and regulatory guidance.

IA Igor Lukić became the federation’s sixth president in December 2025. He had already contributed extensively as an international arbiter, tournament director, technical official, and specialist within the federation. Under its current leadership, Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije continues to develop its leagues, individual championships, youth programs, and educational activities.

🏆 Leagues and Regional Championships

Team competition forms a central part of the federation’s annual program. Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije administers the First League of Central Serbia, the Women’s First League, the Second Leagues, and regional leagues divided into East, West, North, and South groups. These competitions give clubs a structured pathway through the Serbian chess league system.

The federation coordinates competition regulations, registered team rosters, board orders, foreign-player eligibility, match schedules, arbiters, results, and promotion arrangements. Moreover, it works with host clubs, hotels, sports centers, and local organizers to stage concentrated league competitions in different parts of Central Serbia.

The First League of Central Serbia represents one of the federation’s principal annual events. In 2026, the league takes place at Hotel Atlas in Novi Pazar from October 17 to 25. Twelve club teams are scheduled to compete in an eleven-round team round robin. IA Igor Lukić serves as tournament director.

🎓 Junior Chess and Player Development

Youth chess plays an important role in the federation’s work. Its annual program includes the Cadet and Youth Chess Festival of Central Serbia, the Cadet League, junior team competitions, and separate categories for boys and girls. These events allow young players to gain formal tournament experience and compete for regional titles, medals, and qualification opportunities.

In addition, the federation organizes individual championships in classical, rapid, and blitz chess. Its program also includes veterans’ competitions, international open tournaments, cup events, simultaneous exhibitions, and other regional chess festivals. As a result, players of different ages and competitive levels can participate throughout the season.

Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije also supports the development of chess officials. It organizes seminars, consultations, and professional activities for arbiters and other tournament personnel. This work helps clubs apply competition rules consistently and improves the standard of tournament administration across the region.

🤝 Supporting Clubs Across Central Serbia

The federation provides clubs with official regulations, registration procedures, competition documents, forms, deadlines, and organizational guidance. It also publishes team lists, tournament pairings, results, rating information, and updates through its official website.

Through cooperation with the Serbian Chess Federation, affiliated clubs, municipalities, schools, hotels, and local tournament organizers, Šahovski savez Centralne Srbije supports a wide regional chess network. Its activities combine competition management, youth development, club administration, arbiter education, and the promotion of chess throughout Central Serbia.
