♟️ About FC Deetz Chess

FC Deetz e.V. is a multi-sport club based in Deetz, a district of Groß Kreutz in Brandenburg, Germany. The club established its chess section in 2019. Since then, the section has developed into an active regional chess community for children, young players, adults, beginners, and experienced tournament competitors. Christian Rauhut leads the section together with Oliver Giese. Both organizers support regular training and encourage new players to discover competitive and recreational chess.

The chess section combines structured training with a relaxed and welcoming club atmosphere. Its activities include introductory instruction, youth development, regular club sessions, league participation, and preparation for individual competitions. Moreover, the club supports players who compete in regional, state, and national events. Training in Deetz takes place at the club’s Sporthaus, while the organization has also expanded its chess activities into Potsdam. This broader regional presence helps the club introduce more children and families to organized chess.

🏆 Tournaments and Chess Activities

FC Deetz organizes the Deetzer Schnellschach Open, an established rapid chess tournament that attracts players from clubs across Brandenburg, Berlin, and neighboring regions. The fifth edition, known internationally as the 5th Deetzer Rapid Chess Open 2026, is scheduled for September 26, 2026. Christian Rauhut serves as the tournament organizer. The event uses a nine-round Swiss system and continues a tournament series developed by the local chess section.

In addition to organizing open tournaments, FC Deetz regularly reports on the achievements of its members and supports participation in rapid, classical, youth, and team competitions. The club places particular emphasis on concentration, fairness, strategic thinking, confidence, and responsibility. Therefore, its chess program provides both a pathway into competitive chess and a friendly environment for players who primarily want to learn, practice, and enjoy the game.
