A.D. Scacchi Nettuno Gardolo/Trento is an established chess club based in Gardolo, a district of Trento, Italy. The association has promoted chess within the local community since 1981.

The club is affiliated with the Italian Chess Federation under society code 16014. It welcomes children, adults, beginners, recreational players, and experienced tournament competitors.

Silvano Bortolotti serves as President of the association. Together with the club committee and active members, he supports training, tournament organization, team participation, and the development of chess in Gardolo.

Regular activities take place at the club’s venue on Via Soprasasso. Members can play casual games, analyze positions, prepare for competitions, and meet other players from the Trento chess community.

🏆 Tournaments and Competitive Chess

A.D. Scacchi Nettuno Gardolo organizes classical, rapid, blitz, and community chess events. Its tournament history includes several editions of the Open Città di Trento, national-rating competitions, local festivals, and events connected with the Gardolo community program.

The club also participates in the Italian Team Chess Championship. Its teams have competed in regional and national divisions, giving members opportunities to play serious team chess against clubs from Trentino-Alto Adige and neighboring regions.

In September 2026, the organization holds the first Tut Gardol en Rapid! tournament. The event takes place at the club headquarters and forms part of the wider Tut Gardol ’n Festa program.

Players complete seven Swiss-system rounds at a time control of 10 minutes plus five seconds per move. In addition, the competition counts toward the FIDE rapid rating. Edoardo Tronconi and Giannandrea Tomasi manage tournament enquiries and registrations.

The association also organizes accessible amateur competitions during local celebrations. Therefore, residents who do not yet play regularly in official events can experience tournament chess in a friendly setting.

🌱 Youth Chess and Community Activities

Youth development remains an important part of the club’s work. A.D. Scacchi Nettuno Gardolo offers chess activities for children from approximately six years of age. Lessons help participants learn the rules, tactical ideas, concentration, planning, and respect for their opponents.

In May 2026, the club organized the Trentino Under-18 Chess Championship in Gardolo. The competition included separate categories from Under-8 through Under-18 and provided a qualification pathway within Italy’s national junior championship structure.

The association also supports school chess events in Trentino. Club members help provide playing equipment, organizational assistance, and practical support for competitions involving pupils from different age groups.

Moreover, the club brings chess into local festivals and public activities. These initiatives make the game more visible and allow families, beginners, and experienced players to meet within the same community.

Through regular club meetings, junior instruction, FIDE-rated tournaments, and team competition, A.D. Scacchi Nettuno Gardolo continues to support chess in Gardolo and the wider Trento area.
