ARPC Zeimuļs

♟️ About the Organizer

ARPC Zeimuļs, formally known as the East Latvia Creative Services Centre, is a municipal interest-education institution in Rēzekne, Latvia. The center opened in September 2012 and provides educational, creative, sporting, and social activities for children and young people.

Zeimuļs operates from its distinctive building near Rēzekne Castle Hill. The center includes interest-education and youth-work departments. It also hosts competitions, exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and community events throughout the year. Its programs welcome children and young people from four to 25 years old.

The organization is directed by Līga Springa. Through cooperation with the Rēzekne Education Department, local institutions, sports organizations, and national partners, Zeimuļs supports youth development and active participation in the community.

🏆 Chess Events and Rositten Rapid

ARPC Zeimuļs is one of the organizers of the annual Rositten Rapid chess tournament. The event is organized together with the Rēzekne Education Department and the Latvian Chess Federation. It brings FIDE-rated rapid chess to Rēzekne and welcomes experienced club players, juniors, and other eligible competitors.

The XII Rositten Rapid 2026 takes place at Zeimuļs on August 1, 2026. The competition consists of eight Swiss-system rounds with a time control of 12 minutes plus five seconds per move. Aleksandrs Vasiļkovs serves as tournament director and chief arbiter.

By providing the playing venue and supporting the local organization, Zeimuļs helps maintain a recurring international rapid tournament in eastern Latvia. The competition also forms part of the wider sporting program connected with the city of Rēzekne.

🌱 Youth Education and Community Activities

Chess fits naturally within Zeimuļs’ wider educational mission. The center offers dozens of free interest-education programs covering sport, technology, engineering, science, culture, and social development. It also supports informal education and youth-led initiatives.

These activities give young people opportunities to acquire new skills, develop creativity, meet others, and take part in organized events. Therefore, the center serves not only as a tournament venue but also as an important educational and community hub in Rēzekne.
