Ayuntamiento de Brenes – Delegación de Deportes is the municipal sports department of Brenes, a town in the province of Seville, Andalusia. The department promotes sport, physical activity, and healthy recreation among local residents of different ages.

The delegation supports municipal competitions, training programs, outdoor activities, and sporting events. It also helps manage access to local sports facilities and works with clubs, federations, schools, and community organizations.

Carlos Molina Falcón serves as Councillor for Sports and Health. Under the municipal structure, the department coordinates sports initiatives and supports events that attract participants from Brenes and other parts of Andalusia.

♟️ Villa de Brenes Chess Tournament

The delegation organizes the annual Torneo Internacional Villa de Brenes, one of the municipality’s established sporting events. The tournament has developed into a regular meeting point for chess players from Seville and the wider Andalusian chess community.

The event welcomes both federated players and amateur participants. Moreover, its rapid format makes the competition accessible to juniors, club players, and experienced competitors.

The XXIV Torneo Internacional Villa de Brenes 2026 takes place on August 1, 2026, at Sala Blas Infante. The competition consists of eight Swiss-system rounds with a time control of eight minutes plus three seconds per move. It also counts toward the Andalusian regional rating.

The tournament offers cash prizes, trophies, junior and rating-category awards, and recognition for the club with the largest number of participants. José Antonio Fernández Rodríguez serves as tournament director.

Previous editions have also included promotion sections for lower-rated players. Therefore, the event supports both competitive performance and wider participation in organized chess.

🏅 Sport and Community Activities

Chess forms part of the delegation’s broader municipal sports program. The department also supports swimming, athletics, padel, volleyball, hiking, football, and other recreational activities.

Its programs encourage residents to remain active while giving local clubs opportunities to organize training and competition. In addition, municipal events bring visitors to Brenes and strengthen cooperation between the town and provincial sports organizations.
