♟️ About the Organizer

Activity4u is a youth chess and sports organization in Vienna, Austria. Its official name is Activity4u – Verein zur Förderung des Schach- und Tennissports. The association promotes chess, tennis, badminton, table tennis, and squash. Its official imprint lists Austrian association number ZVR 215226643.

The project grew from a combined chess and tennis camp held in Vienna in 2011. The successful first program encouraged the association to expand its activities. Therefore, Activity4u began offering camps during several Austrian school holidays in 2012.

Mag. Gerald Peraus manages the chess program, training sessions, camps, and youth tournaments. He also directs competitions and works as a chess arbiter. In addition, experienced trainers lead the different racket sports. Together, the team creates an active and supervised environment for children aged 6 to 14.

🏆 Tournaments and Chess Events

The Activity-Cup is the organization’s principal chess tournament series. Activity4u launched the first edition in February 2012. Since then, the series has continued during Easter, summer, and other school holidays. By 2026, it had reached its 42nd edition.

The 2026 competitions use a seven-round Swiss system. Each player receives 40 minutes plus a 30-second increment from move one. Moreover, the organizer submits the results for Austrian national rating. The tournaments also require players to record their moves.

The 42nd Activity Cup 2026 takes place at Tennispoint Vienna from August 31 to September 3. Participation forms part of the corresponding Activity4u holiday camp. Therefore, players must book either the three-day or five-day camp package. Mag. Gerald Peraus serves as tournament director and chief arbiter.

Activity4u manages registrations, schedules, pairings, arbitration, rating submissions, and communication with families. Furthermore, its online archive preserves winners, tournament files, games, reports, photographs, and historical results from earlier editions.

🌱 Youth Chess and Multi-Sport Development

Activity4u combines chess education with physical activity. During a typical camp day, children rotate between chess and several racket sports. They also receive lunch, afternoon activities, free-play time, and supervision until collection. As a result, families can choose a structured full-day holiday program.

Certified trainers adapt each session to the children’s ages and abilities. Beginners can learn the rules and basic chess ideas. Meanwhile, experienced juniors can improve their calculation, strategy, notation, and tournament preparation. The rated Activity-Cups then allow students to apply these skills in formal competition.

In addition, Activity4u supports wider youth chess activity in Vienna. Its website covers school leagues, children’s competitions, Vienna youth championships, and Austrian youth events. The organization also shares educational material, tournament reports, photographs, and games. Consequently, it connects regular chess training with school competition and long-term player development.
