♟️ About the Organizer

Brazilian Chess Confederation, officially known as Confederação Brasileira de Xadrez (CBX), is the national governing organization for chess in Brazil. It was founded on November 6, 1924, under the name Federação Brasileira de Xadrez. The confederation operates as a non-profit organization and is affiliated with the International Chess Federation, FIDE.

CBX works to organize, promote, administer, and develop chess throughout Brazil. Its responsibilities include national competitions, tournament registration, rating administration, player records, arbiter records, organizer registration, official regulations, and communication with the Brazilian chess community.

The confederation works with state chess federations, clubs, tournament organizers, arbiters, trainers, and players across Brazil. It also manages Brazilian participation in selected international competitions and publishes official announcements concerning national teams, youth events, senior competitions, and FIDE tournaments.

🏆 Chess Events and Competitions

Brazilian Chess Confederation manages an extensive national competition structure. Its official calendar includes the Brazilian Absolute Championship, Brazilian Women’s Championship, national rapid and blitz championships, youth championships, school chess competitions, amateur festivals, senior events, team tournaments, and regional championships.

Youth chess forms a significant part of the national calendar. CBX events include the Festival Nacional da Criança, known as FENAC, the Festival Nacional da Juventude, known as FENAJ, and the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The confederation also coordinates age-group participation in Pan-American and world youth events.

The federation registers tournaments that count for CBX and FIDE ratings. Organizers must submit event information and reports according to CBX procedures. The official tournament database allows players to search competitions by location, date, format, organizer, and rating status.

🌍 Player Development and Brazilian Chess

CBX maintains national databases for players, arbiters, tournament organizers, instructors, and trainers. Players can use the official website to check their CBX information and national tournament activity. The confederation also publishes regulations, technical documents, calendars, official decisions, and registration procedures.

The 2026 calendar includes events for elite players, juniors, school players, amateurs, seniors, teams, and players with disabilities. CBX has also announced accessibility measures for official events, including discounted entry fees for players with disabilities and the creation of a dedicated Brazilian championship for this category.

Through its national championship structure and cooperation with state federations, Brazilian Chess Confederation connects local tournament activity with national titles and international representation. Its work provides official pathways for players of different ages and competitive levels throughout Brazil.
