Tofan Sahoo is a chess organizer and licensed National Arbiter based in Milton Keynes, England. He is closely associated with MK Bishops Chess Club, where he helps organize regular ECF-rated and FIDE-rated tournaments as well as internal club competitions. FIDE lists him under England with FIDE ID 343451888 and confirms his active National Arbiter licence. His organizer work focuses on providing frequent over-the-board opportunities for players in Milton Keynes and the surrounding region. These include standardplay congresses, rapid tournaments, blitz events, and club competitions. The English Chess Federation regularly lists Sahoo as organizer of the Milton Keynes FIDE Rapid series. Through MK Bishops Chess Club, he also supports a broader local chess program that includes coaching, ECF-rated quarterly competitions, an annual club championship, social chess, and opportunities for both juniors and adults. 🏆 Milton Keynes Chess Congress

One of Tofan Sahoo’s main tournament projects is the Milton Keynes ECF/FIDE Chess Congress. The 2026 edition took place on March 28–29 and consisted of five standardplay rounds. It offered Open, U1900, U1600, and U1400 sections, with FIDE and ECF rating depending on the section. Sahoo served as Tournament Director and also as an arbiter. ECF records additionally show him as the results officer responsible for submitting the event for rating.

⚡ Milton Keynes FIDE Rapid Series

Sahoo also organizes the recurring Milton Keynes FIDE Rapid Tournament series. The fifth edition was held on July 11, 2026, with six rounds and separate rating sections. The 6th Milton Keynes FIDE Rapid Tournament is scheduled for October 3, 2026 at the Church of the Servant King in Milton Keynes. The rapid series is both FIDE and ECF rated and is designed to accommodate a broad range of playing strengths.

In addition to the larger congresses and rapid tournaments, Sahoo organizes rated events directly through MK Bishops Chess Club. During 2026, these included internal rapid tournaments and FIDE-rated blitz events. ECF records list him as Results Officer and Treasurer for MK Bishops internal competitions, confirming his direct operational role in the club’s tournament program. He was also the arbiter for the Milton Keynes ECF/FIDE Blitz Tournament in May 2026, an 11-round event played at 3+2.

🧑‍⚖️ Arbiter Experience

Tofan Sahoo is a licensed National Arbiter with the English federation. His FIDE profile confirms that his National Arbiter licence is active. In December 2025, he also successfully completed the examination at the 210th FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar, earning a norm toward the FIDE Arbiter title. He continues to work as an arbiter outside Milton Keynes as well. In July 2026, for example, he formed part of the arbiting team at the Sussex University Masters 2026.
