The tournament uses a classical time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves. After that, each player receives 30 minutes for the rest of the game. In addition, a 30-second increment applies from move 1.

Joint Open Group

The open Burgenland championship and the Burgenland championship for older-player categories take place in one joint tournament group. All players compete in the same 7-round Swiss-system event.

Burgenland Title Categories

Title-eligible Burgenland players can compete for championship titles in the overall category, women’s category, S50 category, and S65 category. Each title category requires at least 3 eligible participants.

Cup Categories

Cups are available for title-eligible Burgenland players. Categories include the best three Burgenland registered players in the overall standings, best Burgenland woman, best S50 player, best S65 player, best Burgenland player under 1700 Elo, and best Burgenland player under 1400 Elo.
