Tristan Roselle is a French chess organizer, regional federation official, club president, and competitive player based in Saint-Macaire, Gironde. He currently serves as President of the Ligue Nouvelle-Aquitaine des Échecs, the regional body of the Fédération Française des Échecs responsible for chess across one of France's largest geographic regions. He is also President of the Comité Départemental du Jeu d’Échecs de Gironde (CDJE33). At local level, Roselle is the founder and current President of Sud Gironde Échecs, the chess club of Saint-Macaire. He launched the club project in September 2019 with support from the municipality, and the organization became formally affiliated with the French Chess Federation in 2021. Roselle also serves as President of the Comité Départemental du Jeu d’Échecs de Gironde, commonly known as CDJE33. Founded in 1994, the departmental committee is an official decentralized structure of the French Chess Federation. Its responsibilities include developing chess throughout Gironde, coordinating clubs, organizing official competitions, supporting chess education, and implementing FFE policy at departmental level. Through this role, Roselle is closely involved with youth qualification events, school chess, club development, and official Gironde competitions. In January 2026, for example, he served as organizer of the Championnat de Gironde Jeunes in Saint-Macaire. The competition provided the departmental qualification pathway toward the Aquitaine Youth Championship and ultimately the French Youth Chess Championships.

🏠 Sud Gironde Échecs

Sud Gironde Échecs is Roselle's local chess club in Saint-Macaire. The club project began in September 2019 through his initiative and with support from the municipality of Saint-Macaire. The COVID-19 disruption interrupted its early development, and formal affiliation with the Fédération Française des Échecs followed in June 2021. Roselle remains both President and official Contact Person of the club. Sud Gironde Échecs welcomes players from approximately five years old through adulthood. Its program includes lessons, free play, rated competition, team chess, and community activities. The club currently fields an adult team in Nationale 4 and a youth team in a regional division. Its regular activities take place in several municipal locations in Saint-Macaire, particularly the Salle des Fêtes and the town hall.

Tournament organization in Saint-Macaire has become one of the strongest elements of Tristan Roselle's work. In April 2023, he organized the first Open FIDE de Saint-Macaire, a seven-round classical tournament with a 90-minute plus 30-second increment time control and a published €2,500 prize fund. Later that year, he organized the Open d’Automne de Saint-Macaire, expanding the format to nine FIDE-rated classical rounds over five days. The tournament offered a €5,000 prize fund and attracted an international field that included several titled players. The Easter series continued with the 2ème Open de Pâques de Saint-Macaire in April 2025, again under Roselle's organization. These events established Saint-Macaire as a regular destination for serious long-format chess in southwestern France.

The principal current tournament associated with Tristan Roselle is the 2ème Open International de Saint-Macaire, scheduled for October 17–21, 2026. The competition consists of nine FIDE-rated classical rounds played at 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move. The 2026 edition offers a guaranteed €5,000 prize fund, including €1,000 for first place, €800 for second, and €600 for third. Play takes place at the Mairie de Saint-Macaire, with additional analysis and meal facilities nearby.
