🏆 Tournament Activity

TSV Nittenau Schachabteilung organizes the Offene Nittenauer Stadtmeisterschaft, a long-running open city championship in Nittenau. The 2026 edition is the 26th tournament and takes place from September 18 to 20 at Hotelgaststätte Pirzer. The event uses five Swiss-system rounds, Fischer short time control with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move, DWZ rating, and a participant limit of 70 players. It also offers a confirmed prize fund of €1,000, with prizes for overall standings, youth players, older players, rating categories, and four-player teams. The tournament has become a regular highlight in the regional chess calendar. Moreover, the club’s history includes city championship records, blitz championships, club championships, regional events, and participation in Upper Palatinate competitions. Therefore, players can use TSV Nittenau for both local club chess and serious weekend tournament play.

🌱 Youth Chess and Community Activity

TSV Nittenau Schachabteilung supports youth chess and community chess through club activity, open playing opportunities, and a long record of junior development. The club’s chronicle includes many youth results in Upper Palatinate championships, youth team competitions, OSJ-Cup events, and qualification paths toward Bavarian-level events. In recent activity, the chess division has also promoted a more open and accessible approach to club chess. Friday sessions focus on playing, trying chess, and enjoying the game, which makes the club easier to enter for newcomers of different ages and playing strengths. In addition, the division has taken part in local community life through chess demonstrations, club events, and public chess promotion in Nittenau. As a result, TSV Nittenau Schachabteilung gives beginners, juniors, returning players, and experienced competitors a practical chess home in the Upper Palatinate.
