⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
Open Doprastav 2026
The A tournament is a 9-round classical chess tournament played by Swiss system. It counts for FIDE and national rating. The time control is 90 minutes per player with a 30-second increment from move one.
Players need a rating of 1700 or higher as of June 30, 2026. However, the organizer may grant a wildcard to a lower-rated player for an additional €10 fee. The waiting time is 30 minutes.
Tie-breaks follow this order: points, Buchholz, Sonneborn-Berger, Progress, and drawing of lots. In addition, the first five boards will have online transmission.
Bivio Cup 2026
The B tournament is a 14-round Swiss event. Each double round pairs the same two players twice, once with White and once with Black. Therefore, each player meets seven opponents.
The section counts for FIDE and national rating. The time control is 40 minutes per player with a 30-second increment. The rating limit is up to 1799 as of June 30, 2026.
Račiansky Cup 2026
The C tournament is a youth-focused 14-round event without FIDE rating calculation. It is open to children born in 2011 or later who are not registered in chess clubs, or who have a FIDE rating of 1499 or lower.
The time control is 25 minutes per player, with no notation required. The event uses Swiss pairings and the same tie-break order as the other main sections.
Evening Events
The festival also includes four evening events. Bullet uses 2 minutes + 1 second over 11 rounds. Chess960 uses 5 minutes + 2 seconds over 8 rounds. Bughouse uses 3 minutes per game in a team Swiss format. The FIDE-rated blitz tournament uses 3 minutes + 2 seconds over 11 rounds.

🚆 How to Get There
The main playing area is in Bratislava-Rača. Players can reach the venues by local public transport, taxi, or car from central Bratislava.
Parking is available in front of Nemecký kultúrny dom. The first two hours are free, and each additional started hour costs €0.50. Hotel Bivio offers free parking in the hotel area. Stará jedáleň also offers free parking in the courtyard from Pekná cesta.
ℹ️ Other Information
A players may take one half-point bye from Round 2 to Round 7. They must notify the arbiter before the stated deadline on the playing day.
Children born in 2012 or later can receive day supervision during the A and B tournament days for €8 per day. The organizer also arranges a safe group walk to lunch at Hotel Bivio and back.
In the C section, children can join the tournament-only program, camp-only program, or a full-day tournament and camp package. After games finish, arbiters or animators supervise participants until the next round starts. A chess problem-solving contest will also run during the B tournament.
Tournament communication for the C section is available in Slovak, Czech, English, German, and Russian.

Doprastav Bratislava Chess Club, officially known as ŠK Doprastav Bratislava, is an established chess organization based in Bratislava, Slovakia. The club supports competitive chess, junior development, regular training, league participation, and tournament organization. It brings together adult players, talented juniors, trainers, arbiters, and volunteers from across the Bratislava chess community. Moreover, the club works closely with Bratislavská šachová akadémia, which serves as an important development pathway for young players who may later represent Doprastav in official club competitions. Martin Hunčár is one of the club’s principal organizers and manages adult training, tournament activities, and participant communication.

The club enters several teams in the Slovak league system and gives members opportunities to compete at different playing levels.
