IX Marabá Chess Open 2026 brings players to Marabá, Pará, Brazil from June 4 to June 7, 2026. The event returns to Partage Shopping Marabá and keeps its compact festival format with a classical open and a blitz tournament in the same week.
The main event runs as a 7-round Swiss with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds from move 1. Meanwhile, the blitz tournament adds a faster format with 9 rounds at 3+2, so players can compete in both time controls during one trip.
The schedule also works well for traveling players. In addition, the regulations clearly define entry discounts, late-arrival limits, bye rules, pairings, and prize conditions. As a result, the event offers a practical and player-friendly setup from the first day to the closing ceremony.

📍 Venue
Partage Shopping Marabá, Piso L3, Rod. Transamazônica, Folha 30, Quadra 15, Lote 10, Nova Marabá, Marabá, PA 68507-445, Brazil
The venue gives the tournament a central and practical setting inside one of the city’s main shopping centers. Because of that, players can easily reach food outlets, everyday services, and on-site parking during the event.
🚗 How to Get There
Partage Shopping Marabá stands on Rodovia Transamazônica in Nova Marabá. Therefore, players can reach the venue easily by car or taxi from different parts of the city. In addition, the shopping center offers its own parking, which makes local arrival much simpler during the tournament days.
ℹ️ Other
Players should bring their own chess set and digital clock whenever possible, because the organizer has only limited backup equipment. In addition, a player who wants to use a non-standard clock must show it to the arbiters at least 30 minutes before the event starts.
The regulations also set several practical playing-hall rules. Draw offers are not allowed before move 30. Moreover, players must follow a smart casual or business casual dress code, and they may not wear shorts or slippers. Smoking is prohibited in the playing hall. Once a player finishes a game, that player must leave the tournament hall.
This Marabá event offers a compact-rated weekend with solid prizes, a clear structure, and useful side-event options.
