♟️ About SPORTCLUB Agentura 64 Olomouc
SPORTCLUB Agentura 64 Olomouc, z. s. is an established Czech chess organization based in Grygov near Olomouc, Czech Republic. Its roots go back to 1990, when Jaroslav Fuksík founded Agentura 64 with a focus on chess tournaments, training camps, junior activities, and other chess events. One year later, Agentura 64 took over the existing Sokol Grygov chess section. The organization has since developed into an important part of chess life in Olomouc and the wider Moravian region. Its activities cover international tournaments, FIDE-rated competition, team chess, junior training, school chess groups, chess camps, national championships, and events for seniors. Moreover, Agentura 64 has worked with generations of Czech titled players, arbiters, coaches, and young talents. Today, the organization combines its historic A64 Grygov club identity with major tournament organization in Olomouc. Ing. Jakub Fuksík, an International Arbiter who has been active within Agentura 64 since 1991, plays a central role in its current tournament operations. He serves as director of the Olomouc Chess Summer and is the principal published contact for the organization’s major 2026 events.🏆 Olomouc Chess Summer
The flagship event of SPORTCLUB Agentura 64 Olomouc is the Olomouc Chess Summer – Olomoucké šachové léto. The festival began in 1998 and quickly developed into one of the established international chess events in the Czech Republic. Except for interruptions in 2020 and 2021, the tournament has continued regularly and attracts Czech and international competitors. In 2026, Agentura 64 organized the 27th Olomouc Chess Summer – Jaroslav Fuksík Memorial from August 16–23 at Central Park Hotel Flora in Olomouc. The festival formed part of the CZECH TOUR 2026 series and was organized in cooperation with AVE CHESS. The program included closed GM tournaments, closed IM tournaments, the Olomouc Open, Czech Senior Championships 50+ and 65+, rapid chess, and blitz chess. Therefore, the festival served everyone from grandmaster and international-master norm seekers to club players, juniors, seniors, and fast-chess competitors.🌍 Major Tournament Organization
Agentura 64 has organized major chess events for more than three decades. Its early international projects included the GP Mládí Open, which ran from 1992 to 1997 and provided competition for a generation of strong young players. The organization then staged the Moravian Individual Championships from 1993 to 1995. A major milestone arrived in 1995, when Agentura 64 organized the Czech Individual Championship in Olomouc. One year later, it hosted a qualifying group of the European Club Cup. In 1997, the organization staged the first grandmaster tournament in Olomouc’s history. The following year marked the beginning of Olomouc Chess Summer. Agentura 64 has also organized major international tournaments in Litomyšl, as well as the recurring Turnaj přátelství, which began in 1999. Its current organizational activity remains extensive. In March 2026, Agentura 64 also helped organize the final three rounds of the Czech Chess Extraliga 2025/26 at Central Park Hotel Flora in Olomouc.🎓 Youth Chess and Player Development
Youth development has always been one of Agentura 64’s principal activities. The organization has operated chess groups in schools in Olomouc since 1995. It also provides weekly training for advanced juniors and individual coaching for selected talents. Chess camps form another long-running part of the program. Agentura 64 has organized annual chess camps since 1996, alongside training sessions, youth championships, school competitions, and junior tournaments. The organization reports that approximately 2,500 children have passed through its chess groups over the years. Moreover, Agentura 64 representatives have qualified for the Czech Youth Championship every year since 1992. Young A64 players have achieved 17 medals at Czech Youth Championships. Team results have also been strong, including gold at the Czech Younger Pupils Team Championship in 2000, silver in 2001, and bronze at the Older Pupils Team Championship in 2003. Therefore, Agentura 64 combines major international tournament organization with a long-term grassroots development program.♜ Team Chess and Competitive Achievements
Team chess forms another major part of the organization’s history. Agentura 64 Grygov entered organized team competition during the 1991–92 season. In 1994, it also took over the Extraliga team previously associated with Lokomotiva Olomouc. The club then completed 20 consecutive seasons in the Czech Extraliga, the country’s highest team competition. Its greatest success came in 1997–98, when Agentura 64 won the Czech national team championship. Further strong results followed. The team regularly challenged for medals during its most successful period and earned an unexpected Extraliga silver medal in 2010–11. Agentura 64 withdrew from the Extraliga in 2014 because of rising financial demands. However, its first team continued in the 1st League and won that competition in the 2016–17 season, although the club declined promotion for economic reasons. The organization has also won Czech four-player team championships and the Czech team blitz championship. Consequently, Agentura 64 has achieved notable results across both classical and fast team chess.📜 History and Legacy
Jaroslav Fuksík founded Agentura 64 in 1990 and served as one of the central figures behind its development until his death in 2021. He organized a remarkable range of events, including youth competitions, Czech and Moravian championships, European club competition, GM tournaments, Olomouc Chess Summer, and international opens in Litomyšl. His contribution extended beyond the organization itself. Jaroslav Fuksík served as Chairman of the Olomouc Regional Chess Association and held positions within Czech chess administration. In 2000, he received the Salo Flohr Award for his contribution to Czechoslovak chess. The Czech Chess Federation later honored him posthumously for his contribution to the game. The current Olomouc Chess Summer carries the name Jaroslav Fuksík Memorial, preserving his connection with the tournament he founded. His son Jakub Fuksík has been involved with Agentura 64 continuously since 1991. As an International Arbiter and experienced organizer, he now plays an important role in continuing the organization’s tournament tradition. More than three decades after the creation of Agentura 64, the organization remains active in international tournaments, junior development, team competition, and chess promotion throughout the Olomouc region.
