Association Alwan Fannia d’Échecs is a Chefchaouen-based chess organizer with a long history in Moroccan chess. The association was founded in 1977. It grew into one of the country’s notable chess structures through club competition, player development, and event organization.
Its historical record is strong. The association’s official presentation highlights six successive Moroccan team championship titles and two Throne Cup titles in the 1980s. It also points to major national events hosted in Chefchaouen and to a long line of local cups that later developed into the Festival International d’Échecs de Chefchaouen.
Today, the association remains best known for that international festival. It promotes chess locally, but it also brings players from abroad to Chefchaouen through open competition and cultural activity. Current official festival materials name Mouad Ben El Amin Alami as president and festival director, which makes him the strongest main contact for this organizer profile.
