The Albanian Chess Federation (Federata Shqiptare e Shahut – FSHSH) governs all chess activities in Albania. Founded in 1933 and affiliated with FIDE since 1956, the federation operates from its headquarters at Rruga Liman Kaba, Parku Olimpik, in Tirana. It actively promotes chess across the country, develops young talents, and represents Albania in international competitions. President Mr. Erald Dervishi leads the federation with a strong focus on growth and international presence.

FSHSH organizes some of the most prestigious chess events in the region. It hosted the FIDE World School Championships 2018, the European School Chess Championship 2023, and the European Club Cup Championships 2023, where elite players like Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand competed. In October 2025, the federation will bring the FIDE World Youth U14, U16 & U18 Championships to Durrës, continuing its mission to elevate Albania’s status on the global chess stage.
