🏆 Prize Fund

Organizers do not allow players to win more than one prize; they award the highest applicable prize first and then move down the list when a player qualifies for multiple categories.

⏱️ Time Control & Pairings

• You play every round with 60 minutes for the game plus 30 seconds increment per move starting from move one.

• Organizers run a 6-round Swiss and use the VEGA pairing program for all pairings.

• Arbiters follow FIDE Laws of Chess and standard FIDE competition regulations for rating.

• You receive up to two half-point byes in rounds 1–4 if you request them in advance; byes in rounds 5 and 6 count as zero points.

• The default waiting time equals 30 minutes from the start of the round; if you arrive later, you lose the game by forfeit.

• Arbiters apply the following tiebreak order:

  • Direct encounter

  • Brazilian Buchholz (BH-C1)

  • Buchholz

  • Average Buchholz of opponents

  • APRO (rating performance)

• For unplayed games, arbiters use the FIDE “Baku 2023” method for Buchholz-type tiebreaks and treat unrated players as Elo 1400 when they calculate APRO.

• Standard entry fee: €20 with advance bank transfer completed by Thursday, January 1, 2026 at 18:00.

• On-site payments add a €5 surcharge and must finish before Round 1; otherwise, organizers do not pair you in the first round.

• GM, IM, FM, and players with FIDE Elo ≥ 2300 receive free entry, but they still need to register before the deadline.

Federation requirement:

• You must hold a valid chess federation license for the 2026 season before you request registration. Organizers only accept players who already appear as federated when they process the entry.

If you arrive by air, you normally fly to Vigo Airport (VGO), located near Mos, and then continue to Torroso by taxi or local transport. Travelers who arrive by train or long-distance bus first reach Vigo or nearby towns and then use regional buses or taxis to complete the trip to the venue.

• Organizers limit the event to 100 players and respect strict order of correctly completed registrations and payments when they accept entries.

• Two illegal moves by the same player in one game result in a loss, so you should handle move execution and clock use carefully.

• The tournament uses an Appeals Committee of five members: the tournament director (or a designated chair) and the four highest-rated players, with the first two acting as regular members and the next two as substitutes.

• You must submit any formal appeal in writing within one hour of the incident and deposit €50; the committee returns the deposit if it upholds your claim.

• When you register, you and your delegate authorize Club Xadrez Mos to use tournament information, names, and photos in reports, media coverage, and promotional material within the limits of civil and data protection law.
