⏰ Time Control & Pairings
The main Vilnius Open uses 60 minutes for the whole game plus a 30-second increment from move one. As a result, it fits the shorter classical chess category and gives players enough time for serious tournament play across eight rounds. Meanwhile, Panorama Blitz uses 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment over 11 Swiss rounds, so the festival also includes a faster rated side event.
The regulations set the late-arrival tolerance at 30 minutes. In addition, the main open allows players to request up to two half-point byes, with exclusions in the later rounds as published in the official rules. The tie-break order is M-Buchholz (worst result removed), full Buchholz, progress, and Berger.
📂 Sections / Groups
The festival runs with one standard event and one blitz event. Therefore, players can either focus on the main classical tournament or add the Saturday evening blitz to the same weekend schedule.
