The “Stepan Avagyan Memorial” International Youth Tournament 2025 invites young chess enthusiasts to compete in a prestigious event that honors the legacy of Stepan Avagyan. Organizers have scheduled the tournament from June 28 to July 4, 2025, in the picturesque town of Jermuk, Armenia. The Chess Academy of Armenia, established in 2002 by Grandmaster Smbat Lputian with support from then-Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan, is a premier institution dedicated to chess education and promotion in Armenia. Headquartered in Yerevan, the Academy operates approximately 50 branches across the country, offering comprehensive chess training to students aged 4 to 18, with exceptional talents supported up to age 20. Notably, the Academy has produced five Grandmasters and numerous national champions. Beyond education, it organizes prominent tournaments such as the Andranik Margaryan Memorial, contributing significantly to Armenia’s vibrant chess culture.

The “Jermuk Ashkharh” Health Center is located in one of the most scenic areas of Jermuk, a city long celebrated as a high-altitude mountain resort. Since ancient times, Jermuk has been renowned for its healing mineral waters, and in 1970, it was officially designated as an all-union resort by the Council of USSR Ministers. The mineral water brand “Jermuk” gained international recognition and continues to enjoy global popularity today.
Built in 1976, the “Jermuk Ashkharh” Health Center has preserved its strong traditions and high standards of care, remaining operational even through the privatization era. In 2017, the facility underwent a full-scale renovation and was modernized to meet contemporary needs.
