SixDays May 2025 Chess Tournament
Join an elite gathering of chess enthusiasts at the SixDays Budapest May 2025 Chess Tournament, scheduled from May 14 to May 19, 2025. This prestigious event offers players the opportunity to compete for Grandmaster (GM) and International Master (IM) norms, as well as ELO rating points, in the heart of Hungary’s capital.

The tournament will be held at the Hungarian Chess Federation Hall, located at 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 10. This central venue provides a professional and accessible environment for high-level chess competition.
🏆 Tournament Structure
The SixDays Budapest May 2025 features three distinct round-robin groups, each comprising 10 players:
- GM Group: Aimed at players seeking Grandmaster norms.
- IM Group: Designed for those pursuing International Master norms.
- U2250 Rating Group: Open to players rated between 1800 and 2250, with limited spots for those below 1800.
Each group follows a 9-round round-robin format, providing ample opportunities for norm achievements and ELO gains.
⏱️ Time Control & Schedule
- Time Control: 90 minutes for the entire game, with a 30-second increment from move one.
- Schedule:
- May 14: Round 1 at 16:00
- May 15: Rounds 2 and 3 at 10:00 and 16:00
- May 16: Rounds 4 and 5 at 10:00 and 16:00
- May 17: Round 6 at 16:00
- May 18: Rounds 7 and 8 at 10:00 and 16:00
- May 19: Round 9 at 10:00
Please note that the waiting time is 30 minutes, and postponement of rounds is not possible.
💰 Prize Fund
- U2250 Group: A guaranteed prize fund of €500, distributed as follows:
- 1st Place: €250
- 2nd Place: €150
- 3rd Place: €100
In case of ties, prizes will be shared equally among the players.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. Budapest offers a wide range of hotels and apartments near the playing venue, with prices starting from approximately €40 per person per night.
