Norway Chess 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious chess tournaments, returns to Stavanger from May 26 to June 6, 2025. Since its inception in 2013, Norway Chess has consistently attracted the globe’s top grandmasters, offering thrilling matches and a unique format that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. - Dates: May 26 – June 6, 2025
- Format: Double round-robin for both Open and Women’s tournaments
- Rounds: 10 rounds per tournament
Each day features one round, with rest days scheduled to ensure optimal performance from the players.
⏱️ Time Control & Scoring System
- Classical Game: 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 10 seconds increment per move starting from move 41
- Armageddon Game: If the classical game ends in a draw, an Armageddon game determines the winner.
Scoring:
- Win in classical game: 3 points
- Loss in classical game: 0 points
- Draw in classical & win in Armageddon: 1.5 points
- Draw in classical & loss in Armageddon: 1 point

In the event of a tie for first place, a playoff determines the champion.
