⏱️ Time Control & Pairings
The tournament uses a 9-round Swiss system managed with approved pairing software. Each player receives 90 minutes for the full game plus a 30-second increment from move one. Therefore, the event follows a full classical chess tournament structure across the entire week.
In addition, the results count for FIDE Standard Elo and FADA rating. The June 2026 FIDE Standard rating list is used for the prize brackets. Players competing under FIDE flag ESP must hold a valid 2026 federation license.
The published tie-break order is Buchholz Cut 1, total Buchholz, number of chosen rounds to play, and average performance of opponents. Up to 3 half-point byes are available between rounds 1 and 7 if the player requests them before the pairings are published. However, a no-show without justification means elimination, and a last-round no-show removes prize eligibility.
The Sofia Rule also applies. Players may not agree a draw before move 30 unless the arbiter approves it. Moreover, the published courtesy time is 30 minutes.
📂 Sections / Groups
The tournament is played as one main international open section. In addition, the prize structure includes general classification awards, rating-category prizes, women’s prizes, regional and local prizes, junior awards, and senior categories.
