Step into coastal competition at the III Open Internacional de Xadrez — Cidade de Lagos, a nine-round, FIDE-rated classical Open that runs 1–8 November 2025 in scenic Lagos, Portugal. The tournament plays at the historic Messe Militar de Lagos (Edifício do Infante) in the town centre and combines serious over-the-board games with a lively festival atmosphere that highlights Algarve culture and hospitality.

Organizers design the Open for broad participation: titled players compete free, strong international entrants pursue rating gains, and juniors compete for youth prizes and complementary rapid events. ⏱ TIME CONTROL (DETAILS)

Organizers play every classical game at 1h30m + 30s increment for the full game. The arbiter enforces a 30-minute default time for no-shows and disallows short-draw agreements before the 30th move without arbiter permission. The tournament supports up to three requested byes under the published conditions.
