The FIDE World Schools Team Championship 2025 will take place from August 2 to 7, 2025, at the prestigious Episcopal High School, located just south of Washington, D.C.. This high-energy, classical chess team event brings together national school teams—each composed of four main players, one reserve, and a non-playing captain—to compete in an engaging Swiss-format championship that celebrates youth, strategy, and team spirit on the global stage.

⏱️ TIME CONTROL

Each player plays 45 minutes per game with a 10‑second increment per move. The tournament features two rounds per day, allowing teams to challenge themselves while experiencing a balanced schedule. A default time of 15 minutes ensures prompt starts.

📝 REGISTRATION

National school teams must register via their FIDE-affiliated national federation. Teams consist of four players, one reserve, and a non-playing captain. The registration fee is €100 per team, and includes tuition for the Smart Moves Summit—an educational conference alongside the event.

  • Registration Deadline: July 1, 2025
  • Accommodation Package: Included with hotel stay (2 twin rooms + 2 single rooms)
  • Payment: Online via FIDE system once federation nomination is confirmed

FIDE and ISCF will allocate up to 60 teams, including national qualifiers (max. 45) and wildcard entries (max. 15). Accommodation is reserved for registered teams; independent bookings are not available.


🧳 TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Venue: Episcopal High School, Alexandria, VA

Getting There:

  • Air: Fly into Reagan National Airport (DCA), approx. 10 km
  • Ground: Shuttle transfers are available; public transport options via Metro/VRE 10 minutes away

Accommodation:
FIDE provides full board via official hotels close to the venue. Players and delegation members stay in two twin rooms + two singles per team. Early arrival may be arranged through registration.

Optional Activities:
Delegates can explore the Smart Moves Summit, national monuments, museums, and educational tours in and around the D.C. area.
