The 2025 FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships are set to captivate the global chess community from June 10 to 16, 2025, at the Novotel London West Hotel in London, United Kingdom. This prestigious event, organized by FIDE and the English Chess Federation, promises a week of high-stakes competition, featuring a record-breaking €500,000 prize fund—with €310,000 allocated to the Rapid tournament and €190,000 to the Blitz tournament.​

👥 Team Composition & Eligibility

Each team must consist of 6 to 9 players, including:

• At least one female player
• At least one recreational player (a player who has never achieved a FIDE Standard, Rapid, or Blitz rating of 2000 Elo or equivalent national rating up to and including the March 2025 rating lists)
• A team captain, who may also be one of the players

This inclusive format encourages participation from a diverse range of players, fostering a unique blend of experience and emerging talent.​

⏱️ Time Controls

• Rapid: 15 minutes per player, with a 10-second increment per move from move one
• Blitz: 3 minutes per player, with a 2-second increment per move from move one

📝 Registration Details

• Entry Fee: €1,000 per team
• Registration Deadline: May 10, 2025
• Team Selection: Limited to 60 teams, with selection based on the highest average ratings and earliest registrations. Additionally, FIDE may grant up to 5 wild card entries ​
