Get ready for an electrifying chess showdown as the 2025 FIDE World Blitz Team Championship takes over the prestigious Novotel London West Hotel in London on June 14–15, 2025.Organized by FIDE in collaboration with the English Chess Federation, this premier event boasts a record-breaking €190,000 prize fund, underscoring its significance in the global chess calendar.​

🗓️ Event Schedule

• June 14: Group Stage – Teams compete in round-robin pools.
• June 15: Knockout Stage – Top 16 teams from the group stage vie for the championship title.​

🏆 Prize Distribution

The substantial prize pool is allocated as follows:​

• 1st Place: €75,000
• 2nd Place: €50,000
• 3rd Place: €30,000
• 4th Place: €20,000
• 5th Place: €15,000

👥 Team Composition & Eligibility

Each team must consist of 6 to 9 players, including:​

• At least one female player
• At least one recreational player (defined as a participant who has never achieved a FIDE Standard, Rapid, or Blitz rating of 2000 Elo or equivalent national rating up to and including the March 2025 rating lists)
• A team captain, who may also be one of the players ​

This inclusive format encourages participation from a diverse range of players, fostering a unique blend of experience and emerging talent.​

⏱️ Time Control & Format

• Time Control: Each player has 3 minutes for the entire game, with an additional 2-second increment per move from move one.
• Format:

  • Group Stage: Teams are divided into pools of similar strength, competing in a round-robin format.
  • Knockout Stage: The top 16 teams from the group stage advance to a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion. ​

📝 Registration Details

• Entry Fee: €1,000 per team
• Registration Deadline: May 10, 2025
• Team Selection: Limited to 60 teams, with selection based on the highest average ratings and earliest registrations. Additionally, FIDE may grant up to 5 wild card entries. ​
